Create archives
Archives allow you to compress many files and directories into a single file. This is useful if you want to:
  • Backup files. Packing your files and folders into a single file makes it easier to manage your backups.
  • Reduce file size. Compressing large files can help you free up space on your hard disk.
  • Send large files. Bundling files into an archive makes it easier to send and share them.
With Rucksack you can create a large number of archive formats including Zip, 7zip, DMG, Bzip2 and Gzip.

To create an archive on your Mac with Rucksack:
  1. Download and launch Rucksack
  2. Drag in the files you want to archive
  3. Click Create Archive
  4. Pick a name for your backup file
  5. Pick a file format. For best compression we recommend 7z.
